After losing its first four Big West Conference matches of the season, the Cal Poly women’s tennis team earned its second straight league victory with a 4-3 win against UC Santa Barbara at Mustang Courts on Saturday.
Senior Jennifer Cornea and junior Hannah Stone won both of their singles matches, while junior Mika Padmanabhan’s singles win helped Cal Poly defeat its Central Coast rivals for the fifth time in the previous six matchups between the teams.
The Mustangs started off the match by dropping the doubles point, but roared back in singles to win four of the six possible points, including Padmanabhan’s three-set clincher.
The Mustangs conclude regular season conference play when they visit Cal State Fullerton on Monday. The Big West Conference Championships begin on April 24 in Indian Wells, Calif.
