The Cal Poly women’s tennis team played in their final tournament pre-dual matchups Jan. 12 to 14 during the Cal Winter Invite in Berkeley.
The Mustangs faced off against UC Berkeley, Fresno State and Saint Mary’s College.
During the three-day tournament, seven Mustangs were victorious in the singles competition. Freshman Grace Olyphant and MacKenzie Worsnop each picked up wins along with junior Abigail Bacharach and sophomore Celine Gruaz. Sophomore Seriana Saltzen also collected a win on a retirement of her opponent due to injury.
The Mustangs also saw some success in doubles play with victories from senior Molly Reed paired with Saltzen, junior Caroline Williams paired with Olyphant and sophomore Susanne Boyden paired with Worsnop. These victories were all by a rather substantial margin of 6-2, 6-3 and 6-2 respectively.
The Mustangs play their first dual meet of the season Jan. 28 at Loyola Marymount and open up home play Feb. 2 against University of Nevada, Reno.
Conference play starts Feb. 11 against Cal State Northridge.
