Senior Ane McPike was the lone winner for the Cal Poly women’s tennis team in the final match of the regular season as the Mustangs dropped a 6-1 decision to Fresno State on Friday at Mustang Courts. Cal Poly will face UC Irvine as a No. 7 seed heading into next weekend’s Big West Conference Championships in Indian Wells, Calif.
McPike and freshman Emily Gibbens lost in a close doubles match to Fresno State’s Rana Sherif Ahmed and Tanya Murtagh 8-7.
Senior Jennifer Cornea dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision at the No. 1 position to Sophie Watts.
Also playing in her final match at home, senior Kathryn Webb lost her singles match 6-2, 6-0 to the Bulldogs’ Anneka Watts.
The Mustangs finished the regular season 7-10 overall and 3-5 in Big West Conference play.
