The Cal Poly women’s basketball team kept its streak rolling as the Mustangs knocked off UC Irvine 84-79 on the road for their fifth straight win on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, Cal Poly (13-8, 7-1 Big West) retained possession of first place on the Big West Conference standings.
Senior center Molly Schlemer scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed seven boards for the Mustangs. Junior guard Ariana Elegado contributed 21 points on 6 of 16 shooting from the floor.
Junior Kristen Ale added 15 points off the bench just two nights after scoring 18 points in this past Thursday’s win at UC Davis. Senior guard Nwamaka Ofodu also scored in double-figures with 10 points on 4 of 5 shooting.
Camille Buckley led the way for UC Irvine as she netted 19 points and grabbed a game-high 26 boards.
The Mustangs shot more than 50 percent from the floor for the third straight game.
Cal Poly returns home this weekend with a 2 p.m. game vs. Hawaii on Saturday.
