Cal Poly alumnus Peter Oppenheimer, the senior vice president and chief financial officer for Apple, will be speaking on “Careers at Apple” at the Performing Arts Center this Thursday.
This is not the first time Oppenheimer has spoken to Cal Poly’s campus. Since graduating from Cal Poly in 1985 with a degree in agricultural business, he has made several appearances through the years as part of the Orfalea College of Business Distinguished Speaker Series. According to the Orfalea college website, the series “seeks to enhance the educational experience of business students and the Cal Poly community while showcasing programs, faculty and students to the California business community.”
Oppenheimer also serves on the executive board of the Cal Poly Foundation, the nonprofit organization run by friends and alumni of Cal Poly who support the school.
Because of his high status at Apple, students from the Financial Management Association club will usher Oppenheimer into the hall, Department of Finance chair Cyrus Ramezani said.
Oppenheimer is expected to speak from 11:10 a.m. until noon.
