According to a university statement, Cal Poly will reopen its investigation into the alleged sexual assault that occurred at a Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) Halloween party three months ago.
The university investigation has been reopened because of new details from local law enforcements’ investigation into the alleged sexual assault, according to the statement. With this new information, the Dean of Students Office will now conduct its own Title IX investigation into the incident.
The fraternity was informed of this new investigation on March 10.
The original investigation into both the alleged sexual assault and party violations ended in January with the Dean of Students’ decision to put the fraternity on a six-year suspension. The fraternity appealed the suspension a few weeks after.
According to the statement, this appeal will be put on hold until the reopened investigation is completed.
PIKE will remain suspended during the investigation.
