1. Softball suspension lifted on remaining four players
Cal Poly Director of Athletic Communications Brian Thurmond said in an email that all six original freshman players who were suspended for violating team rules have returned to the team.
2. Business college announces 2 finalists for dean
Serious business is brewing as the search for a new permanent dean for the Orfalea College of Business has been narrowed down to Richard Mathieu and Scott Dawson. Both candidates have been invited to visit Cal Poly and participate in open forums.
3. Fourth candidate joins race for ASI president
Computer engineering junior Will Blumhardt is now also running in the ASI presidential race.
“Here I am trying to run in that spotlight to represent not just one group of students on campus, but to represent those students who are maybe not in that spotlight,” Blumhardt said.
4. Dean of Students: Pi Kappa Alpha did not host party during social probation
It has officially been determined by Dean of Students Jean DeCosta that a reported Pi Kappa Alpha party held during social probation was not hosted by the fraternity, according to an email sent by Cal Poly spokesperson Matt Lazier.
5. SLOIFF reels in film screenings
International cinematic pieces ranging from short films to documentaries are being shown at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival (SLOIFF) this weekend. Batman himself (yes, Adam West) will attend the first film on Saturday.
