1. Rioting in the streets at Deltopia
Deltopia, an annual Santa Barbara party, had over 15,000 attendees and resulted in 100 arrests and 44 trips to the hospital. Violence ensued on Saturday when riots reached an ultimate heightened state.
Two Cal Poly computer science graduate students, Mike Lady and Kim Paterson, created an application for Google Glass called Malnotes, a spyware designed to prove that hackers could potentially spy on you using the Google technology.
3. No. 5 Cal Poly Blanks No. 13 UC Santa Barbara to win series
The Cal Poly baseball team dominated UC Santa Barbara with a 1-0 win and series victory on Sunday. Casey Bloomquist, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, had 10 strikeouts.
4. Cal Poly prepares for Common Core
With California’s recent addition of the Common Core Standards, Cal Poly is preparing future educators to adopt to these standards without directly influencing the K-12 curriculum.
5. Meet the Orientation and Transition Board
Transitioning to Cal Poly is a process, but here to help ease the adjustment is the Orientation and Transition Board. These seven members are the coordinators behind SOAR and Week of Welcome (WOW).
