1. Just one more drink: On-campus alcohol poisoning calls on the rise this year
More than a year after Aware Awake Alive was introduced to Cal Poly, on-campus alcohol poisoning is still prevalent and on the rise. With one more quarter left in the academic year, 58 alcohol and drug-related hospital calls have already been made, mostly coming from residence halls.
2. Academic Senate could vote on engineering unit cap Tuesday
An engineering unit cap resolution will be discussed and possibly voted on by Cal Poly’s Academic Senate on Tuesday. The resolution would include a 198-unit ceiling, already approved by the Academic Senate of the California State University system.
3. Cal Poly grad joins San Luis Obispo City Council race
Eric Meyer, a Cal Poly graduate turned planning commissioner, is now running for San Luis Obispo City Council, hoping to serve both residents and Cal Poly students.
4. Students win big on ‘The Price is Right’
Colin Roth, a recreation, parks and tourism administration senior and member of Lambda Chi Alpha, achieved what every broke college student would want: winning $3,000 on “The Price is Right.” Roth went on the show with his fraternity brothers and scored big.
5. Cal Poly considering charging for weekend parking
The Cal Poly University Police Department is considering helping balance the Parking Services budget by charging for on-campus parking on the weekends.
