Student athletes will be featured in Safer’s new ad campaign this week. “Their faces are seen on campus, and on billboards, in the newspaper a lot because of their sports participation,” women’s basketball head coach Faith Mimnaugh said. “So being able to use that as a vehicle to not just have a report on them, but to make a difference on campus, was a desire of the students.”
4. Cal Poly vs. UCI basketball game highlight: Chris Eversley dunks on 7-foot-6 Mamadou Ndiaye
Cal Poly may have lost Saturday’s basketball game to UC Irvine, but Chris Eversley earned a spot on ESPN’s SportCenter’s Top 10 plays with his dunk on Mamadou Ndiaye, the tallest player in the NCAA.
5. Maker movement finds permanent home in SLO
The maker movement has found residence in San Luis Obispo with SLOMakerSpace. “It is going to be a really awesome community that you can’t find anywhere else … This is a place where you could come in, get that support and learn how to make something that is just an idea originally,” shop manager Rory Aronson said.
