What’s trending on campus today?
1. Steve Aoki to take ‘flight’ at the Rec Center
One of the most anticipated ASI events is “Tazmanian devil” Steve Aoki’s performance set for Friday night. Yetis dressed in all white will greet attendees, who should be ready to get “caked” or sent flying out over the crowd on an inflatable raft sometime during the performance.
2. CSSA resolution could put the brakes on semester conversion
Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) President Jason Colombini represents Cal Poly in the California State Student Assembly (CSSA) in defense of the quarter system. A resolution urging California State University (CSU) Chancellor Timothy White to allow for student input successfully made it through the first reading last week, but still must be approved through a second reading and vote in late February.
3. Louder Space defines its sound with some help from Kickstarter
With the help of Kickstarter, a nostalgic house on the corner of Hathway Avenue and Fredericks Street and a college experience centered around San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly-grown band Louder Space raised $8,500 to devote to their debut album Airwaves, expected in April.
4. Word on the street: Career Fair
Mustang News reporter Anne Knapke asked students what they would say if they had 15 seconds to pitch themselves to a future employer.
5. Master plan to determine ASI facilities’ next 10 years
The ASI Facility Master Plan, which will be created this year, will lay out the direction of ASI facilities for the next decade. Student needs, current ASI projects and trend data of comparable universities will all be considered in this potential improvement of facilities on campus.
