The candidate filing period for students interested in running for 2014 Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) president or Board of Directors spots is now open.
Students must submit their candidate packets no later than Feb. 28. Packets can be found on the ASI website.
Each filing packet includes general demographic questions as well as space to provide a candidate statement explaining why the student is running. This statement will eventually be published online so the rest of the student body can see specific messages from candidates before voting on April 23.
According to chair of recruitment and development committee Cale Reid, anyone can file for candidacy for any position, including graduate students. The only stipulation for Board of Directors positions is the student must be a member of the college for which they run to represent.
“I encourage anyone to apply,” Reid said. “It’s a great opportunity to get involved on campus and to represent students from your college.”
The next information session for prospective candidates is Feb. 25.
