Christine Theodoropoulos, the current head of the architecture department at the University of Oregon, was named the new dean of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design on Tuesday, according to a press release.
Theodoropoulos has held her current position at the University of Oregon for the past nine years. As the head of the department, she managed the curriculum for 650 undergraduate and graduate students, and oversaw a $6.2 million annual budget. She also fundraised for the department, and was a member of the faculty for 15 years.
“Christine’s blend of academic and professional experience as a teacher, university administrator, architect and civil engineer make her an excellent choice to lead our College of Architecture and Environmental Design,” President Jeffrey Armstrong said in a release. “Her career has embraced the kind of multidisciplinary approaches that will enrich our Learn by Doing programs.”
Theodoropoulos is set to take over on Sept. 1, and will succeed R. Thomas Jones, who announced in November he was stepping down after nine years in the position.
