Both lanes of Southbound Highway 101 are now open. The spill was not hazmat and the truck has been removed.

Traffic is backed up to Madonna Road after a tanker truck overturned and is blocking both lanes of Southbound Highway 101 near Los Osos Valley Road. Northbound lanes remain open, but traffic is moving slowly.
Southbound traffic is being diverted to Los Osos Valley Road, according to San Luis Obispo Police Chief Deanna Cantrell, as the lanes remain closed indefinitely.
The commercial tanker truck is leaking an unidentified liquid and a hazmat unit is working to control the leak. The accident happened at approximately 7:50 a.m. Oct. 25, according to California Highway Patrol.
A precautionary evacuation of the Johnson Ranch Open space has been ordered.
Caltrans is encouraging commuters to take other routes. There is no current estimate for the reopening.
