“The Descent” should have never come to America (at least not in its “tweaked” form). If anything, it’s Lionsgate Films’ way of describing how well they did on their past year’s report card; a depressing descent into following the standard horror formula and forgetting to get creative.
The new E3 is a godsend
When I first heard that the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was getting downsized, I didn’t cry, whine, spit or even blame it all on J Allard (for whatever odd reasons some of you bloggers have). In fact, I closed my browser and had the best sleep I’ve had in 12 years.
Comic-Con means no sleep
It’s that time of year again. Yes, the time of year where sleep is but a theory, excitement is my only emotion and geek is officially my middle name. It’s time for the San Diego Comic-Con.
This year, however, I will provide as coverage as I possibly can as a single reporter for all of you, the faithful Mustang Daily Online readers.
'Pirates 2' should walk the plank
So apparently “Pirates of the Caribbean” is a Disney comedy. Or is it an epic tale about pirates, naturally hidden treasure and nasty creatures that make for good fight scenes? I’m all too confused and mostly disappointed, but at least Johnny Depp is still a great actor.
Sony might wind up in last place in the console wars
Is the world coming to an end? Before E3 I was worried that Sony might not pull into first place in the console wars, but now analysts are forecasting third, behind the cult lover box known as the Nintendo Wii? Thankfully, however, I haven’t listened to analysts ever since the unbeatable quote “video games will be extinct by the year 2000.
'Da Vinci Code' cracks the movie dryspell
Ryan Chartrand I entered “The Da Vinci Code” expecting the most over-hyped film of the year. After seeing it, however, I realized I’d just seen one of the most over-criticized films of the year. Whether you’re a Christian or an…
'An American Haunting' is a waste of film
Ryan Chartrand Believe it or not, but other films actually do come out on the same day that “Mission: Impossible” films make their debut. I’ve regretted twice now missing out on other films that have been overlapped by Tom Cruise’s…

The Immigration Nation
Julianne Byer So I’m sifting through newspapers and editorial clippings arguing about the Immigration Issue. Since when is it an issue? America is not suffering from an immigration problem- America IS Immigration. But our mindset has changed. We as the…
'United 93' commemorates lost lives
Ryan Chartrand I could have done without “United 93.” I could have continued to live my life pushing the thought of terrorism and the infamy that took place on Sept. 11, 2001 to the far corners of my mind. But…
'Wii', oh why?
“Xbox 360,” an epic name of mystery and grand proportions. “PlayStation 3,” a name of nostalgia, imagination and infinite possibilities. “Wii,”- Um, I don’t know. What the hell does “Wii” even mean? How do you even pronounce it? "WEE Let's go on the swing!" or "Why is this such a terrible name?" The Japanese have been crazy when it comes to the video game industry for years, but when you change a next-gen console name from “Revolution” to “Wii,” you might as well rename it one more time to “We are Insane.
