Pipeline safety a concern
The gas pipeline explosion in San Bruno, Calif., on Sept. 9 raised concerns about the safety of other gas pipelines in California — more specifically in San Luis Obispo and on Cal Poly campus. To clear the air SoCalGas and, on campus, Environmental Health and Safety are regulating pipe checks and informing the public about pipe safety.
Severance tax on oil and gas for higher education fails to pass
The California State Assembly Appropriations Committee failed to approve an oil and gas severance tax that was expected to generate $1 billion in revenue for California’s higher education system last month.
