Poly to offer more summer school courses than ever
Due to the state budget crisis, both Cal Poly and Cuesta College’s summer school funds have been cut. Cal Poly, however, will continue to offer courses under the self-supporting office of Continuing Education. While more than double the amount of Cal Poly courses will be offered, they will also be more expensive.

The furlough program at Cal Poly has resulted in pay decreases for faculty members along with an increased workload due to larger class sizes and fewer available lecturers.
Higher education suffers as prisons grow
The budget plan legislature passed calls for $12.4 billion in additional funding for the prison expansion program, AB900, but slashes $9.5 billion from an already struggling K-12 public education system and $2 billion from the higher-education system.
Campus construction ongoing
Construction in the University Union Plaza began in June 2009. It is funded by money from ASI reserves. The UU is set to reopen in April 2010.
