Ryan ChartrandTwo suspects were arrested by the San Luis Obispo Police Department for the alleged attempted robbery of a San Luis Obispo resident in the early morning hours of Jan. 12.
Aaron Tedesco and Michael Robertson, both 18 and of Prunedale, Calif., were arrested by a SLOPD officer around 4:30 a.m. after allegedly assaulting a San Luis Obispo resident and demanding money.
A third suspect, described by the victim as African-American, was able to run away and was never located by the officer.
Police said the three suspects approached the victim at the intersection of Serrano Drive and Palomar Avenue, off Foothill Boulevard.
The suspects allegedly asked the victim for a cigarette, then began punching and kicking him and demanding money. The victim, 25-year-old Duane Menton, did not give them any money and the suspects eventually ran away, police said.
The officer responding to the call spotted the three suspects who matched the descriptions given by Menton and was able to apprehend two of them, while the third fled the scene.
Menton’s injuries included bruised ribs, a laceration to his face and a fat lip.
Both Robertson and Tedesco were charged with strong-arm robbery and Robertson was additionally charged with possession of marijuana. They have both since been released from police custody.
It is believed that Robertson and Tedesco had come to San Luis Obispo only for the night and have no affiliation with either Cal Poly or Cuesta College.
