The Muslim Students Association (MSA) hosted “What is Shariah Law?” on Wednesday night to educate students about Islamic Law and dispel common misconceptions.
“The biggest one being that it doesn’t exist,” said Osama Eisa, interim Imam at the Mosque of Nasreen. “It hasn’t existed for 150 years. I think that’s really important for people to know because people pretend that they’re afraid of things, but if you’re afraid of something that doesn’t exist, that’s a problem.”
Eisa lectured about the subject and answered student’s questions after.
“I had many misconceptions, as do many Americans and people around the world,” aerospace engineering sophomore Noah Falck said. “I thought it was more of a code and I thought it was actually practiced, but he cleared that up.”
