What do you get when you combine Greek life, philanthropy and dancing all in one evening?
Answer: Sorority’s Best Dance Crew.
Cal Poly’s Theta Chi chapter will host its sixth annual Sorority’s Best Dance Crew on Monday at 7 p.m. in Chumash Auditorium. The auditorium is expected to be quaking with impressive dance routines, applause and cheers as nine sororities show off their moves to raise money for charity.
“It’s a dance competition between every Panhellenic sorority on campus,” event director and physics junior John Pelgrift said. “All nine Panhellenic sororities are competing, and all the proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo.”
Sororities aren’t the only ones who have worked hard to prepare for the show — Theta Chi has been practicing a routine of its own.
“The sororities do their dances, and then Theta Chi puts on a dance at the end while the judges are tallying up the scores,” Pelgrift said. “It’s usually pretty funny.”
Pelgrift said the number of people each sorority brings factors into their scores, too.
“[People will] have a great time, and if they know anyone in a sorority they can come out and support them,” he said.
Tickets are available online for $5 via Theta Chi’s Facebook page or at the door on Monday for $10.
