Dear Brian Eller,
First off, I can’t believe that you have the balls (or lack thereof) to be able to wear a striped polo shirt and still call yourself a Republican. You are just strengthening the stereotype that West Coast Republicans are weak and are an embarassment to the right wing. But anyways, aside from your oxymoronic attire, I want to comment on your article about the homeless.
Not long ago, I did a report for an English class on the homeless, and I decided to focus on those who desire to be homeless. I believe that you are insulting perfectly intelligent people to whom homelessness is just a way of life. And many of these people do not beg and/or want money from others. But even the ones that do: more power to ya. That’s how they want to do it, so that’s how they do it. They have the right to be homeless just as you have the right to be a complete and total jerk.
And what do you say to the countless homeless who are veterans and have done more than could be imagined, and should not be expected to work by any means. And what about the developmentally retarded homeless, what do you want them to do, because I’m sure that if you saw a handicapped person giving you your Taco Bell your small mind would be terribly disgusted. And what about the women with children, what about that.
I respect your right to an opinion, but I think maybe you should open up your mind a little more next time you think.
