A 22-year-old San Luis Obispo resident broke into Cloud 9 Imports on California Boulevard shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday and stole nearly $4,000 worth of glass smoking pipes, according to a press release issued by the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
Officers arrived at the smoke and tobacco shop after a large window was shattered, tripping an audible alarm. A search of the shop’s interior revealed that someone had entered and smashed one of the glass display cases, according to the press release.
Police noted drops of blood inside and outside the business, prompting them to call local hospitals to see if anyone was being treated for a bleeding cut. French hospital reported that 22-year-old Abraham Finn-Howell was receiving stitches for a bleeding hand injury at that time.
Police arrived at the hospital to find most of the stolen property in a vehicle connected to Finn-Howell. Officers found the rest of the stolen pipes next to U.S. Highway 101 and Cloud 9 Imports, according to the press release.
“Who knows what his intentions were to do with (the stolen items),” said Lt. Bill Proll of the San Luis Obispo Police Department. Proll said that all items were returned to Cloud 9 Imports.
Finn-Hall was arrested for commercial burglary and booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail after being treated for his injuries.
