Starting Monday, Feb. 1, students will have a new option for arriving on campus in the morning.
SLO Transit is offering a new bus service that will run from 7-10 a.m. The Kennedy Library Tripper will service downtown San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly and the Ramona Drive neighborhood and will arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled Route 4 and Route 5 service.
Due to a high ridership during peak traffic hours, the new route will provide access to the Robert E. Kennedy Library and will arrive twice during the stated timeframe.
The new option has no connection to the double-decker bus which collided with a bridge near the corner of Highland Drive and California Boulevard on Monday, according to SLO Transit assistant Megan Cutler. Cutler said she and other SLO Transit workers had been planning the new bus service for two weeks.
“We’re always looking ahead to what we need to do to meet our ridership,” Cutler said. “We’re definitely looking into adding more service in the future, but that’s still being determined.”
SLO Transit passes are sold on every SLO Transit bus, the City of San Luis Obispo Finance counter, Boo Boo Records, the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce and San Luis Obispo High School.
