Cal Poly’s University Police Department (UPD) issued an alert today regarding an alleged sexual assault on the pedestrian path to Mustang Village on Tuesday night.
A press release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department went out in an email to all Cal Poly students, asking that they exercise caution, especially when walking on the path from campus toward Mustang Village.
According to the report, at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday the alleged victim was approached from behind by three males, one of whom pulled her to the ground. The alleged assault was interrupted as a cyclist approached the scene, which caused the suspects to flee the area, according to the report.
This is the fourth sexual assault reported among Cal Poly students in the past year. Last May, three were reported within 10 days of each other.
In the report, SLOPD and UPD urge students to follow their instincts and call the police immediately if they see something suspicious, as stated in the release.
Neither SLOPD nor UPD could be reached for comment at the time of publication.
