Fifth-ranked Oklahoma wrestling team visits No. 19 Cal Poly on Saturday

The Cal Poly wrestling team has performed well enough to maintain its national ranking of No. 19 in the W.I.N. Magazine poll, but head coach John Azevedo is not thrilled with its consistency so far this season.

Azevedo and the Mustangs will get a chance to prove themselves when fifth-ranked Oklahoma visits Mott Gym at 6 p.

Mustang men's water polo team finishes third in nation

The Cal Poly men’s water polo club team swam its way to success this year, ranking third in the nation to cap off the season.

The Mustangs finished strong with a record of 23-1 last month at the national championships hosted by Miami (Ohio).

“I think that collectively, we played well as a team,” junior team president Josh Mix said.

Poly volleyball: once again a powerhouse

I was running late Friday night after a mid-afternoon nap that turned into an early-evening slumber. I awoke at precisely 6:23 p.m., seven minutes before I had planned to arrive at the Cal Poly volleyball match.

The match didn’t start until 8 p.m., but I wanted to make sure my butt was firmly planted in a courtside seat as the Mustangs battled Michigan in NCAA Tournament action.

Though its historic season ultimately ended with a disappointing 3-1 home loss Saturday night to Cal in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the Cal Poly volleyball program feels like it has plenty to look forward to.

Cal Poly’s roller hockey club team is ranked second in Division I this season and will likely go on to regional and national championships, senior Mike Albo, a team member, said.
