Mustangs rally in eighth, take series from Pacific

Five Mustangs qualify for NCAA Regionals at UCLA invitational
Five members of the Cal Poly track and field team had regional marks Friday at UCLA’s Jackie Joyner Kersee/Rafer Johnson Invitational at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles.
Two did so with personal bests in the long jump, which Sharon Day won at 19 feet, 9 inches, slightly better than her teammate Jasmine Pickett’s second-place bound of 19-8 _.

During the fall, while working for the Kansas City Chiefs, I witnessed an athletic performance for the ages, and it had nothing to with football. I attended a high school basketball game in which Kansas’ five-time defending state champion played a team with only six players.
Mustangs hang onto lead
The Cal Poly baseball team won its second-straight Tuesday night, hanging on to an initially wide lead to defeat non-conference opponent Fresno State at Baggett Stadium, 8-5. In a game that saw 14 different pitchers, four stolen bases and 18 strikeouts between the two teams, Cal Poly was able to build an early lead in the first inning.
