Cal Poly men win, women second

The Cal Poly men’s golf team used a home course advantage in cruising to a 45-stroke win at the inaugural Coast BMW-Coast Nissan Collegiate Golf Championship on Tuesday at the 6,724-yard, par-71 Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo.

The Mustangs were led by sophomore Jarod Knight’s 10-under-par, three-round total of 203, easily capturing the individual championship by eight strokes over Gregor Main of UCLA.

Mustangs can't say bye-bye to byes yet

Rich Ellerson’s not a mind reader. Still, the head coach of the Cal Poly football team had a pretty good idea Monday what the focus of the school’s weekly athletics news conference at Mott Gym would be.

Miller's scoring spree continues

Morgan Miller scored twice for the second game in a row to lead the Cal Poly women’s soccer team to a 4-1 win at UC Riverside on Sunday afternoon.

The first goal came from 15 yards out in the seventh minute on a cross from senior Ashley Vallis, and the second, a header giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead, came in the 24th on a cross by senior midfielder Melissa Woo.

Cal Poly breezes by Pacific

The Mustangs swept the Tigers 25-23, 25-10, 25-21 at Mott Gym. The match was memorable for Mustangs head coach Jon Stevenson as both his 100th at Cal Poly (9-6, 4-0 Big West Conference), and his 23rd sweep there.
