The women’s tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to Saint Mary’s. The teams were tied at three when the match came down to No. 4 singles. Junior Diane Filip fell in a match to Sabina Gunnarsson 5-7, 6-7 (8), giving the Gaels the win.

Worst Tournament … Ever
Monday night’s national championship game was a fitting end to one of the most mediocre NCAA men’s basketball tournaments in recent history. North Carolina, perfectly playing the role of big bullies beating up on the little guys, manhandled Michigan State. But that’s what this year’s tournament was all about.

The Cal Poly baseball team is in the midst of possibly its greatest season at the Division I level. The Mustangs’ next opponent, Saint Mary’s (19-13), is in arguably the same position. The teams will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Baggett Stadium.
Callero to be head basketball coach
The last time the Cal Poly men’s basketball team saw Joe Callero in Mott Gym was when he was coaching Seattle University to a 60-59 victory over the Mustangs last December.
