Campus buildings turn over new green leaf after LEED vote

How to get that rental

The arrival of March officially marks the beginning of house-hunting season, a process that can produce Elmer Fudd-like results for the most well-prepared prospective renter. With the ever-growing student population, there is a larger exodus of students from the dorms and apartments each year, which makes finding affordable, conveniently located residences more and more like “hunting wabbits.

Housing shake-up

Off-campus student housing officials said it is too early to tell how the new facilities at Cal Poly will change the demand for student housing in the area.

Tim Kershner, manager of Stenner Glen and local real estate broker, said since Cal Poly cancelled summer school classes for incoming freshmen, they will have to wait to see how many students Cal Poly will enroll in the fall.

Student peers patrol noisy party scene

Whenever a grumpy neighbor calls the San Luis Obispo Police Department complaining of too much noise, two Student Neighborhood Assistance Program (SNAP) officers are sent to the scene to give the homeowners a “first warning.”

Guide to student apartment complexes

Sure, on-campus housing comes with perks, but what if you need a break from campus food? What if you like biking to school? What if you can only take so much of the busy Cal Poly atmosphere?

That’s where the San Luis Obispo Off Campus Student Housing Association comes in; it is a group of eight housing facilities that accommodate a variety of students who wish to live near, but not on, campus.

Fire forces students out of home

It looks like a pathetic yard sale. There are soot-covered and charred objects scattered on the driveway and clothing draped on the fence, with more and more loads of stuff coming out each minute carried by sooty college students.

At around 6 a.m. Monday morning, four Cal Poly students escaped out of 381 Pismo St.
