Raise the Respect: Changing lives one event at a time

Raise the Respect, a Cal Poly’s Student Community Services program, is hosting a donation for new and used backpacks called “Backpacks for the Bush” on campus. Raise the Respect is dedicated to helping people in need around the world by promoting awareness of social justice.

More than just pets, these dogs have job experience

Two faculty members train dogs for Guide Dogs of America and Delta Society, respectively. The animals provide assistance and therapy throughout the community.

Pride Center comes out in the University Union

Cal Poly’s Pride Center recently moved to the University Union in an effort to allow more students access to the facilities in a more central, familiar location. The center is now located in one big room, as opposed to the old location where two trailers were combined creating a barrier and limited space.

San Luis Obispo students arrested for possession of ecstacy, prescription drugs

Vigneshwaran Ramar, 20 and Wilson Lao, 21 were arrested Monday morning under suspicion of possessing ecstacy pills for sale and prescription medication. According to the police department, Ramar was arrested under suspicion of possessing 923 ecstacy pills.

Such emotion is quite understandable as any talk on minimum wage naturally involves a discussion about poor people. Penalties rise for party hosts, underage drinkers in SLO

San Luis Obispo’s new social host ordinance may cause some party planners to rethink who they’ll be including on their guest list starting next month. Starting May 8, San Luis Obispo’s revised social host ordinance will hold party hosts legally and fiscally responsible for underage drinking at their home.
