Comic-Con means no sleep

It’s that time of year again. Yes, the time of year where sleep is but a theory, excitement is my only emotion and geek is officially my middle name. It’s time for the San Diego Comic-Con.

This year, however, I will provide as coverage as I possibly can as a single reporter for all of you, the faithful Mustang Daily Online readers.

Nobody can call the famous Lipizzaner stallions shy. The horses have performed for more than 25 million people all over the world and their next stop is San Luis Obispo.

The Lipizzaner stallions will appear at the Madonna Expo on July 18.

Troy Tinker, master of ceremonies, said that the best part of the show is that anyone can enjoy it, even if they don’t have a background involving horses.

'Pirates 2' should walk the plank

So apparently “Pirates of the Caribbean” is a Disney comedy. Or is it an epic tale about pirates, naturally hidden treasure and nasty creatures that make for good fight scenes? I’m all too confused and mostly disappointed, but at least Johnny Depp is still a great actor.

GALA says 'Pride, Not Prejudice'

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA) of the Central Coast kicked off its 10th annual week of pride events last Sunday with an interfaith service celebrating diversity at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

'Devil Wears Prada': devilishly clever

The latest summertime flick “The Devil Wears Prada” puts an entirely new spin on the boss from hell.

Oscar-winner Meryl Streep steals the show as Miranda Priestly, the fearsome editor in chief of “Runway” magazine. Miranda has built an empire for herself as the head of this fictional fashion bible, but she has a devil of a time finding a decent assistant.

Tom Delay pays 'Big' price in documentary

Bravenew Films, producer of controversial documentaries about corporate America, just hammered out its latest creation, “The Big Buy.” Now showing now at the San Luis Obispo Public Library and available on DVD, “The Big Buy,” exposes audiences to the unethical practices of Texas Republican Tom Delay.

Sony might wind up in last place in the console wars

Is the world coming to an end? Before E3 I was worried that Sony might not pull into first place in the console wars, but now analysts are forecasting third, behind the cult lover box known as the Nintendo Wii? Thankfully, however, I haven’t listened to analysts ever since the unbeatable quote “video games will be extinct by the year 2000.

'Festival' = All you can drink

“Festival is my new favorite word!” my boyfriend drunkenly proclaimed.

Forget going downtown to the bars or throwing some randomly-themed house party; the new rage is an all-day drinking affair, delectably titled a “festival.”

So let’s think about what a festival really is: a celebration with entertainment.
