“The Descent” should have never come to America (at least not in its “tweaked” form). If anything, it’s Lionsgate Films’ way of describing how well they did on their past year’s report card; a depressing descent into following the standard horror formula and forgetting to get creative.
Hot dice and cold drinks: What happens in Vegas…
The bright lights, the late nights and the constant flow of alcohol are what consumed my weekend as I ventured to the 21-and-over’s Disneyland. Yes, I was in the fabulous city of Las Vegas.
For my best friend’s 21st birthday, five of us ladies traveled to Nevada in hopes of an unforgettable weekend.
Tasty treats and yummy eats at the Mid-State Fair
For those of you lurking near or around San Luis Obispo this summer, be sure to make a trip to the California Mid-State Fair, the premiere joint to hang out with friends while digesting good music, good vibes and, of course, good food.
Once again, it’s time for another delectable edition of Cal Poly’s own “$40 A Day: Mid-State Fair Style” – an episode high on grease, loaded with salt, packed with sugar and smothered in nothing but good taste, topped off with only the best domestic beers on tap.
'The Cable Guy' makes a house call in Paso Robles
Larry the Cable Guy installed two hours of laugh-out-loud comedy to Mid-State Fair-goers on July 28.
While every minute may not have been stomach-hurt good, he put on a full show that included chats about poop, making fun of his own jokes and, ending on a high note, a string of jokes while he strummed away on his guitar.
The new E3 is a godsend
When I first heard that the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was getting downsized, I didn’t cry, whine, spit or even blame it all on J Allard (for whatever odd reasons some of you bloggers have). In fact, I closed my browser and had the best sleep I’ve had in 12 years.
AG's got the 'Blues'
The San Luis Obispo Blues Society is presenting “An Afternoon of Blues,” a free concert featuring local and national musicians, in Arroyo Grande on
Sunday, July 30 as part of the Village Concert Series. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the blues concert, which will take place at the
Rotary Bandstand on the Village Green in the historic downtown center of Arroyo Grande, will feature three acts that include soloist Doc Stoltey, followed by the Karen Tyler Duo, and the Shota Kava Blues featuring Valerie Johnson.
Cult classic sequel 'Clerks II' scores big summer laughs
Whether it was a desperation move or a way to silence cult-loving fans of the original “Clerks,” Kevin Smith has finally remembered what great independent filmmaking is all about with his seventh film “Clerks II” (or as it was originally titled “Passion of the Clerks”).
Confessions of a super-senior
I am what they call a “super-senior.” Through a couple of major-changes, some careful class planning, and two absurdly patient parents I have been able to push the duration of my higher education to the breaking point.
Being in college as long as I have has allowed me the opportunity to expand my knowledge to things that I never dreamed.
Help, I can't hear you now
I feel naked. I don’t mean that in the sense that I am standing in the middle of the University Union wearing no clothes, but I feel like something is missing.
My cell phone. My phone decided to take a vacation because, apparently, I used it too much.
OK, the truth is I left my cell phone in my husband’s truck.
Dine out this summer without money bummers
With summer in full force, it’s time to indulge in the three “B’s”: Beers, Barbecues and Babes.
But for those short on cash, let me clue you in on some of the most excellent and affordable establishments to find the best that San Luis Obispo has to offer and (perhaps to bring that babe to).
