SAN LUIS OBISPO – Long time patrons of Bull’s “Traditional, Not Trendy” Tavern were surprised Saturday night when they stumbled knee-walking drunk into the cowboy watering hole to order a round of infamous Bull Sweats and found that owners had replaced the rummy fare with newly concocted “Bull Shits.
In the mood to screw?
To screw or not to screw. Shakespeare had it wrong all along. They screw you on parking, on tests, at financial aid, at work, even looking for an elliptical machine at the Cal Poly rec center. In a world where you get screwed left and right…do you really want to get screwed when you’re relaxing? Well, some of us actually screw to relax.
'Babel' captures humanity in a nutshell
Hollywood’s latest cruel joke about how ignorant and disconnected America is with humanity might be starting to depress some of you. If the joke hasn’t blissfully socked you in the face yet, however, “Babel” is certainly a great start.
Using the growingly popular form of film writing known as nonlinear storytelling, “Babel” is told through four different cultural stories, all centering on a theme of being lost and disconnected.
Anime retailer expands with grand opening
Fans of Japanese animation in Paso Robles will be overjoyed when Anime Express moves in Saturday, bringing along with them well-known voice actors and a manga artist for their grand opening.
Anime Express, also located on Madonna Rd. in San Luis Obispo, is the only retailer on the Central Coast dedicated entirely to Japanese animation (or anime), comic books (or manga), and imported video games.

The display in the downtown Barnes and Noble caught my eye and I couldn’t help leafing through the book whose cover resembles a giant letter bound in postmarked brown paper.
'Blink': First impressions mean more than you think
Bill and Susan sat in a nondescript room and allowed themselves to be videotaped for 15 minutes as they discussed a point of contention in their marriage: their dog. They were a trendy couple in their 20’s, whose stylishly messy haircuts revealed a playful nature.
'Borat' blends comedy with sad look at America
If you’ve been waiting for the best comedy of the year to pick you up and tear your belly in half, it certainly has arrived. Unfortunately, you’ll have to walk out of the theater with a depressing look at your fellow Americans looming in your head for hours.
Cal Poly grad has youthful harmony
It’s late on a Tuesday night and the halls are vacant at Judkin’s Middle School in Pismo Beach. A light shines from the band room and sound emanates out into the darkness.
“Be our guest. Be our guest…we are here to do a show for you… You bring up your arms like this and you point your right finger at the audience,” Jan Zilli, member and choreographer tells the group.
