A night of great music at the Mission
Picture a candle-lit chƒteau in Vienna during the 1700s, filled with aristocrats who have come from all over to listen to enchanting music composed by Mozart in a tiny chamber room. This is the feeling that Cal Poly’s director of bands, Bill Johnson, wants audience members to sense when they attend Saturday’s 8 p.
Fantasy artist shares his work, advice
When describing the word “creativity,” lateral thinking and topics concerning the right and left brain might not instantly come to mind. But they do to renowned fantasy artist James C. Christensen.
“All I’m trying to do is get people’s creative juices going and convince people that everyone has an imagination and everyone can be more creative than they are,” Christensen said of his presentations.

It doesn’t break any new boundaries or go into experimental territory. We don’t get a Girl Talk mega-mix or Diplo crate-digging or Clipse beat-stealing mixtape territory.
Plucking out cultures' finer points
Four internationally diverse guitarists will perform tonight at the Performing Arts Center as part of the International Guitar Night tour. Billed as “the longest-running mobile guitar festival in North America,” the International Guitar Night tour was founded in 1995 by San Francisco native Brian Gore.
A local band's tribute to a reggae icon
The spirit of Bob Marley Day was out in full force Saturday as San Luis Obispo County-based reggae band Resination paid homage to the great reggae artist with its own versions of Marley’s classic reggae jams.
Resination, accompanied by fellow reggae artists The Kicks, and openers Ras Danny and the Reggae Allstars, revisited many of Marley’s more well-known jams while flavoring its own spin to make the music unique.
