Singer Sophie Milman to jazz up Spanos Theatre

Jazz singer Sophie Milman’s performance at Cal Poly will mark the international artist’s first trip to the Central Coast.

“We’ve enjoyed her music so far so we’re looking forward to a good show,” said Ali Semon, owner of San Luis Obispo frame store Frame Works and a sponsor of the event.

Singer and songwriter Matt White, a “Rolling Stone” top 10 ‘artist to watch,’ is coming to San Luis Obispo tonight. White performs his acoustic pop sound at Downtown Brewing Co. this evening.

White’s headlining tour, Vote For Love, began Oct. 7.

“I wrote the entire album when I was in college,” White said.

'Wondrous' tale shares triumphs, struggles of Dominican family

Club brings art lovers together

The Studio Art Club started out as a fundraiser for the university’s art and design department but has since evolved into a separate entity.

The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, is located in El Chorro Regional Park on Highway 1, and features an ever-growing spread of plants that is planned to eventually expand to a garden of 150 acres.

Local 'kitchen' serves up bike help

After crashing his bicycle during a tour through Santa Cruz a couple of years ago, Cal Poly environmental engineering junior Brant Haflich found a bike church that helped him fix and learn about his mode of transportation so he could get back on the road.

Haflich was so impressed with his experience, he found himself asking why San Luis Obispo didn’t have a similar organization.

Grammy-winning Marsalis comes to Cal Poly

He is known to many as a godfather of modern jazz. Now the smooth, soul-filled sounds of three-time Grammy award winner Branford Marsalis and his saxophone can be heard tonight at 9 p.m. in the Cohen Center.

Marsalis will perform a unique collaboration with the Philarmonia Brasileira, under conductor Gil Jardim.

Hand-picked entertainment to liven up UU Hour

For the students, by the students: Associated Student Inc.’s weekly Concert in the Plaza event is made up of bands hand picked by the student body. Every Thursday in the University Union Plaza, a concert gives students a chance to take a break from their classes and relax while watching a variety of local and well-known acts that they themselves have chosen, such as Augustana and The Expendables.

The day has finally come. Baltimore art punkers Ponytail will be playing here in San Luis Obispo tonight at the SLO Art Center with Awesome Color and Skykillers. Their album, “Ice Cream Spiritual,” stayed at the top of the KCPR charts and over the summer cemented itself as a best album of the year for quite a few DJs.
