'Zombies, Man.They freak me out'

I like zombies. No, I take that back. I frickin’ love zombies. Ever since I was nine, when I saw George A. Romero’s 1968 black and white cult classic “Night of the Living Dead,” on my uncle’s tiny TV, I’ve been hooked (By the way, all of Romero’s zombie flicks are great, even the remakes).

“It was a good show for sure,” said history junior Chris Andrews. “I was afraid because we were sitting high up, that the sound was going to be bad, but the acoustics sounded excellent; the staging was done really well.

Not your traditional trick-or-treat fun

During the time of witches and wizards and goblins and ghouls, Halloween presents itself as a masterpiece of disguise. It is a time to transform into something that is not your real persona, to take on a different character and to hide behind a mask, both literally and figuratively.

Book review: Swedish import thrills with mysterious plot

In a few words, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” by Stieg Larsson can be described as unsettling, detailed, and… amazing. Murder mysteries are not exactly my forte, but after seeing the large display at the book store dubbing the novel an official Barnes & Noble Recommends, I had to give in and found myself setting forth on a twisted intricate tale of a missing girl, a journalist and a punk-hacker duo that bring her story into the light after decades of injustice.

A clever country record for grumpy old hipsters

I hate reading late reviews. Honestly, whoever dares pen their views on a product already weeks old on the shelf is an oblivious dick, more concerned with the expulsion of their own scattered thoughts than with the task of imparting useful information to the reader.

Insomniac proves too weird to live, not too rare to die

Bob Whiteford described it as “the final bullet in the head” that killed his business. After nearly 12 years, the quirky indie movie store Insomniac Video is dead. The economy killed it.

But the memories will live on for Whiteford and his legion of supporters who came to the small video store on Broad Street to find the movies they couldn’t get anywhere else.
