The Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa will be welcoming Grammy Award-winning country singer LeAnn Rimes to Cal Poly for its 2016 fundraising event.
The concert will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the concert will benefit local nonprofit organizations that serve the youth of the San Luis Obispo community.
“LeAnn Rimes and her ensemble are paid through generous donations of club and our sponsors,” Rotary club president Melinda Thomas said.
This year’s event sponsors include PG&E, Kevin Main Jewelry, Debra Trout Fiduciary, Idler’s Home, Farm Supply and J Lohr. Rotary de Tolosa gave more than $250,000 from their annual fundraiser to local charities.
“It’s a total community effort to come together and provide an amazing evening of great entertainment,” Thomas said. “Each year we are able to distribute grants to local youth charities from the proceeds of our Valentine’s Day concert.”
Rimes has sold more than 44 million albums and has seen 42 singles make the Billboard Hot Country Song Chart, including 13 which made the Top 10. In addition to two Grammys, she has also won three Academy of Country Music Awards and 12 Billboard Music Awards.
Rimes is also an accomplished actress, with roles in TV shows like Anger Management and Days of Our Lives, and has published two children’s books.
Concert tickets will range from $50-90 each and can be purchased at the Cal Poly Box Office, online at pacslo.org or over the phone at (805) 756-4849.
