Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong has many proposals for future housing changes, although they are not yet concrete, he said.
In an interview Wednesday, he expressed the desire to see Greek residences on campus, whether that would mean chapter houses or their own residence halls.
“I think that would be healthy,” he said. “It’s not our to-do list. It’s on our list of, ‘that could be great for student success.'”
According to Armstrong, Associated Students Inc. (ASI) president Jason Colombini supports the idea as well.
Armstrong also said he would like to see scholarships and financial aid earmarked specifically for housing costs. This underscores the administration’s belief that housing is a huge factor for student success.
For now, however, the university is focusing on the dorm construction slated to begin next year and end in 2018.
