A portion of campus is shut down for through traffic this week as Cal Poly Facilities replaces old gas and hot water lines.
Currently, a portion of Cuesta Avenue — from South Perimeter Road to the Cochett Education Building (Building 2) — is closed and will remain so for the next couple of weeks as that leg of the construction wraps up, Facilities Planning and Capital Projects Chief Engineer Michael Brennan said. The street remains open for foot traffic.
The project is expected to continue through the end of the academic year, Brennan said.
Facility Services will replace the gas and hot water lines leading to the Student Services (Building 124), the Old Natatorium (Building 46) and Crandall Gymnasium (Building 60), which will lead to road closures in the lines’ path.
The most significant road closures, Brennan said, will be postponed until after finals week so the road is not torn up during spring commencement. Following the end of the academic year, North Perimeter Road will close down to finish the last leg of construction, at which point detours will be in place.
