Although Cal Poly and the rest of the FCS may have been shunned by EA Sports on NCAA Football ’09 (I know, right?), a seemingly impressive Olympics alternative might offer the ability to play as high jumper Sharon Day and discus thrower Stephanie Brown-Trafton — both former Cal Poy standouts.
For the record, Cal Poly isn’t represented on any of the versions of NCAA Football ’09. Some FCS teams do find their way onto the PS2 version, but in outdated and incomplete fashion.
Inexplicably, the dynasty mode for PS2 has San Diego State hosting Alcorn State on Aug. 30, and Wisconsin closing out its regular season Nov. 22 at home against “FCS West” — an absurd, regional amalgamation of supposed, apparent stars of FCS teams from the West Coast.
Common preseason All-Americans, however, such as wide receiver Ramses Barden and guard Stephen Field, aren’t evident among any of the players created by EA.
