
The San Luis Obispo Police Department had its hands full Saturday for St. Patrick’s Day after arresting 29 people and responding to 28 noise complaints, police said.
The bars downtown opened at 6 a.m. and had long lines to get in throughout the day. McCarthy’s Cocktail Lounge had a line outside all day and night, police said.
Police arrested 15 people by 7 p.m. Saturday and another 13 between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Of the arrests, 25 were for public intoxication, two for driving under the influence, one for vandalism, and one for an assault. All of those arrested were between the age of 21 and 27 years old, including four females and 25 males.
On Mardi Gras weekend last month, police made a total of 57 citations and 31 arrests.
