A campuswide email Tuesday alerted Cal Poly to an attempted rape on campus this past week, in which someone allegedly put a pillowcase or bag over a woman’s head on Perimeter Road and attempted to sexually assault her.
According to the email, the assault occurred early in the morning on Jan. 7, as the victim was walking from a parking lot next to the Administration Building (Bldg. 1) toward the Julian A. McPhee University Union. After the suspect allegedly attacked her from behind, she was able to escape and did not see the assailant.
Cal Poly police learned of the attack Tuesday evening, according to the email, and reminded students to be aware of their surroundings and travel in groups.
