Mustang Daily Staff Report

Thousands poured onto campus today — suitcases, surfboards and pillows in tow — on the largest move-in day of the year for first-year students.
This year’s freshman class has been touted by the university as its largest and most ethnically diverse ever. Approximately 4,750 incoming students will begin classes next week, a more than 25% increase over this past year’s class.
The number of students moving in today was not immediately available, though several rooms were converted during summer to house more students than ever before. University Housing also opened one building in Poly Canyon Village, a community previously exclusive to sophomores and above, for freshmen.
