Mustang Village resident Jonathan Ocampo-Espinal was arrested Monday for possession of illegal drugs and weapons. It was confirmed that Ocampo-Espinal is not a Cal Poly student, according to San Luis Obispo Police Department (SLOPD) Administrative Lieutenant John Bledsoe.
Detectives received information that led them to believe Ocampo-Espinal was engaged in the sales of illegal drugs. SLOPD obtained a warrant to search his Mustang Village apartment. During the search, police found an ounce of cocaine, a loaded semi-automatic handgun, scales, drug paraphernalia, bags of marijuana of various weights and approximately four and a half grams of heroin.
Bledsoe didn’t know why Ocampo-Espinal was living at Mustang Village.
“We have people in the city that we’ve arrested in the past,” Bledsoe said. “It is a little unusual that it occurred in the Mustang Village apartments.”
Ocampo-Espinal was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail Monday with bail set at $50,000, according to jail records.
SLOPD had no further comments on the case as it is an ongoing investigation.
