On Monday, the Cal Poly men’s tennis team took on University of the Pacific in a match originally scheduled for Saturday, but postponed because of rain. The Mustangs couldn’t come up with a victory, though, as they lost 4-3 after a late surge by the Tigers at Mustang Courts.
Pacific took the first point with convincing wins in two doubles matches, but Cal Poly was quick to come back. The Mustangs would take the next three points after singles wins by senior Marco Comuzzo (6-4, 6-4), senior Jurgen De Jager (6-3, 6-1), and junior Naveen Beasley (6-3, 6-1).
The two-point advantage did not last long, as Pacific would go on to win the next three singles matches. The Tigers’ Miguel Diaz captured the team victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Cal Poly freshman Garrett Auproux.
The Mustangs (2-8 overall, 2-0 Big West) look to improve their record when they take on St. Johns on Thursday at Mustang Courts. First serve is at 1 p.m.
