The Cal Poly men’s golf team finished seventh out of 10 teams Oct. 14-15 at the Wyoming Southern Dunes Invitational at the Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.
The team finished 16-over-par for an aggregate score of 880 on the 7,576-yard, par-72 course.
Two Mustangs, senior Mitch Martin and senior Jimmy Castles, placed in the top 30. Martin shared 10th place with four other players, scoring an even par with 216 total strokes while Castles tied for 29th place at seven-over-par with 223 total strokes.
“The team is showing improvement which is what we are looking for,” Head Coach Scott Cartwright said.
The team improved from their last tournament where they finished 16th out of 16 teams at the Nick Watney Invitational in Fresno, California.
Cartwright also said the golf team used their bye-week to focus on the team’s weaknesses in more individualized practices.
The Mustangs travelled to Kauai Oct. 29-31 to compete in their last tournament of the fall season at the Warrior Princeville Maki Invitational.
