The Cal Poly men’s basketball team surrendered 13 3-pointers, the highest single-game total in 144 games, as the Mustangs dropped 85-73 to UC Davis on Thursday night.
Despite the loss, Cal Poly (10-17, 6-8 Big West) remained tied for fifth place in the conference standings with Cal State Northridge.
Senior forward Chris Eversley notched a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Sophomore wing David Nwaba added 12 points for the Mustangs.
UC Davis connected on 13 of 24 (54.2 percent) shots from downtown — it was the highest single-game total by a Cal Poly opponent since Wisconsin also sank 13 on Dec. 16, 2009.
Guard Avery Johnson led the way for the Aggies with 18 points, including three 3-pointers.
The Mustangs complete their final road trip of the regular season when they take on UC Irvine on Saturday. Tip-off for the ESPNU-televised game is set for 8 p.m. at the Bren Events Center.
