A flurry of jingle bell-induced tunes, ugly Christmas sweaters and bubbly-filled glasses are just part of the holiday cheer local cafe Kreuzberg, CA has in store for this weekend.
The heavily decorated coffee shop will hold its 2nd annual “Kreuzberg Ugly Sweater and Fialta Sing-Along Christmas Spectacular Spectacular” on Dec. 6.
Local indie pop band Fialta will bring sound to the holiday festivities after performing on Kreuzberg’s float during the 38th Annual Holiday Parade.
“It’s one of our favorite bands,” Kreuzberg manager Carolyn Hiigel said. “We work with them a lot. We really enjoy their music and a lot of our regulars also enjoy their music.”
The lively foursome will perform various Christmas jingles throughout the night.
“Everybody has specific songs that have emotional memories to them, we just said, ‘Let’s bring those,’” Fialta member Sarah Shotwell said.
The band said there is a strong chance it will release a holiday album in the future, as they are going to start working to have something ready by the next holiday season.
“We really wanted to release some recording this year, but we realized we weren’t going to be able to do it on the time crunch,” Fialta member David Provenzano said.
In addition to singing along to the Christmas music this Friday, guests are encouraged to wear ugly Christmas sweaters to the “Spectacular.” Guests donning their ugliest Christmas sweater will receive $1 off beer and wine.
The kitchen will be closed, but the espresso machine will be open, Hiigel said.
The festivities begin at 9:30 p.m. and the event is free to the public. It is yet to be determined if the event will be 21 and over.
