Students who applied and were selected by Cal Poly for the 2015-16 academic year reached record highs for the number of applicants, and feature some notable academic achievements.
Of the more than 50,000 that applied, most were College of Engineering (CENG) students. They also accounted for a majority of the selected students.
The College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) made up the smallest number of applied and selected students.

The selected freshmen had especially high academic marks.
Students chosen for CENG had the highest average GPA at 4.13, while College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) admits had the lowest at 3.87.

For the SAT, CENG admits earned the highest math and reading scores with an average of 1,419; the lowest were CAFES admits at 1,253.

CENG selected students also scored highest on the ACT exam, averaging 32. College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and CAFES admits scored the lowest at 28.
