Former Cal Poly football player Cameron Akins entered a plea of no contest to charges of attempted home invasion, robbery in concert with the use of a firearm, residential burglary and resisting a peace officer by use of force in connection with an August 2014 attempted robbery at the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity house.
Akins, 20, was the last of the five former Cal Poly football players arrested in the attempted robbery to enter a plea. He was the lone suspect who entered the Delta Sigma Phi house, and did so carrying a gun. He was the lone suspect who was identified by house members.
The other former football players — Cortland Fort, Dominique Love, Jake Brito and Kristaan Ivory — have all either plead not guilty or no contest and have been convicted of crimes.
Akins could face a minimum sentence of 4.5 years in state prison, or up to 16 years. A sentencing hearing will take place July 11.
